CHAPTER 2: You Need NOT Sacrifice Quality of Connections

The quality of your connections should be of importance to you. After all, who wants static in the background when making long distance calls.

All the recommended providers throughout this book utilize one of or more of the major underlying carriers that support the majority of voice and data traffic via fiber optic connections, Sprint, WorldCom, Global Crossing, Qwest...

Utilizing any one or combination of the major underlying carriers, you are less likely to incur an outage! These main carriers have the lines already in place as well as highly trained technicians who can usually locate a possible problem even before it occurs.

Even though news occasionally highlights a major underlying carrier which may be experiencing some financial issues, here is the truth and why you need not be concerned.

With each supporting a majority of the traffic, the U.S. Government realizes that if anyone of them were to go down, the economy in this Country and perhaps globally, would collapse. This does not include individual long distance providers, but rather the underlying carriers themselves. Thus the reason I stress using a qualified, reputable long distance company so as not to be left stranded without any long distance service one day.

Secondly, most of the creditors want the companies to remain operational so as to keep the revenue stream flowing. This is in their best interest as to continue to collect monies owed them.

In the worst case scenario, if one or more of the major carriers were to fall, they would be kept operational while permitting another to come in and take control.

State laws prohibit a long distance provider from raising rates without 30 to 90 days notice to the consumer (varies according to State regulations). This gives you more then ample time to search out, sign up and be provisioned to another provider in the event rates were to be increased.

In short, do not panic over all the news being highlighted today. You will not be left stranded with a reputable provider since they have the ability to switch your carrier in the event of an emergency to keep your phone lines operational!
